Released Before the Results

Hiring Quality leaders in radiopharmaceuticals, where the dose ships before the sterility result.

In radiopharma, a Quality leader often releases product before the sterility result exists. That changes who you should hire. This report sets out the release regimes, the rules that collide with radiation protection, the failures that stopped supply, and scorecards for six Quality roles across developers, CDMOs, isotope producers and integrated players.

What this report answers

  • Why is a strong big-pharma sterile QA leader often the wrong radiopharma hire?
  • Which release regimes will our Head of Quality actually have to run, and how do they differ?
  • How does the Quality job change at a developer, a CDMO, an isotope producer and a vertically integrated company?
  • What should we test for when hiring a Head of Quality, VP QA, QA or QC Director, Sterility Assurance Manager or CSV Specialist?
  • Who is hiring radiopharma Quality roles right now, and at what level?
  • What are employers posting in pay for radiopharma Quality leadership?
  • Which adjacent sectors supply talent that transfers, and which do not?

56 employers

Radiopharma employer records scanned for open Quality roles on 6 October 2026, across developers, CDMOs, isotope manufacturers and integrated players. A dated sample, not a census.

6 scorecards

One per Quality role, each with the mandate, must-have experience, red flags and interview questions.

What the analysis establishes

The release clock

Short-lived products ship before a 14-day sterility test can finish. US PET rules, US rules for therapeutics and EU two-stage certification each handle that differently. The report sets the three regimes side by side and shows what a Quality leader must have done before to run them.

Two rulebooks in one room

Radiation protection changes the logic of aseptic manufacturing, from pressure cascades to glove time. The rules are also moving, with revisions to EU Annex 3 and Annex 11 under way. The report shows where conventional sterile instincts break down.

What going wrong looks like

A dated record of warning letters, supply suspensions, recalls and complete response letters from 2018 to 2026 shows where radiopharma quality systems fail and what each failure stopped.

Four company types, four Quality jobs

The same title means different work at a developer, a CDMO, an isotope manufacturer and a vertically integrated company. The report maps the mandate, the defining risk and the profile to hire for each.

Six role scorecards and live hiring data

Each of six Quality roles gets a scorecard with the mandate, must-have experience, red flags and interview questions. A dated job-posting scan of 56 radiopharma employers and posted pay bands show who is hiring now and at what level.

How it was built

The analysis draws on primary regulatory texts from FDA, the European Commission, EMA, USP, the NRC, IAEA, WHO and EANM, on FDA enforcement records and company disclosures, and on identified trade reporting. It includes a job-posting scan of 56 radiopharma employer records taken on 6 October 2026, with Quality roles identified by title and seniority assigned from the title. The scan is a dated sample, not a census, and counts for large diversified companies are a floor. Sources are listed in the report.

Who it is for

CEOs, COOs, Heads of Quality, site heads and HR leaders at radiopharma developers, CDMOs, isotope manufacturers and integrated companies, and investors assessing whether a radiopharma business has the quality leadership its manufacturing plans require.
